Farm Day-first post, kind of long

Today was an exciting day! I sartout by waking up at 6:00 O' Clock, go figure, a nice time to sleep in with school out and I still wake up early! Hahaha. I eat a great breakfast of a bowl of cereal, eggs, bacon, and pancakes with the best syrup, Kings Molassess.  At 10:00 with have an appointment with the Mennonite down the street, they gave us an amazing ride around town on the horse and buggy, and I even got to drive the horse some!! It was amazing, when you really take the time to notice the world around you, it seems that much more interesting and beautiful. I know that when I am in a car, and I look out the window everything in the country seems so wonderful and relaxing to look at, but when I was just trotting along with the horse, it was even more majestic. I was able to see the other farmers around Ephrata. I was able to feed a horse, his name was Major, a carrot, it was his first. Did you know that their teeth go all the way to his eyes almost?! I think that was really cool, I learned a lot about horses and a lot about Major in perticular. When we were done with the ride, we were able to get dropped off at home. We also bought some fresh veggies from them, snap peas, asparagus, and red beets. Tonight for dinner I was able to eat some of the veggies, the asparagus and beets with a potato and sausage mixture. My nonnie, that is what I call her, she made the leaves of the beets along with the beets. i tried them with sea salt and apple cider vinegar, and the taste of the vinegar, the asparagus and the meat and potatoes just went wonderful together, it was like a feast of flavor and wonder was happening  at the same time! Today is a great day, and one I will never forget!

  1. Yay! Welcome to the blogging world, hon! :-) Loooove the background. So pretty!

Love beets too. Nummy! And beet greens go so good with sausage.

I've never gotten to ride in a buggy! I'm so jealous! My friends and I were going to do one of those buggy tours, but we never got around to it, and they're always kinda far away like Strasburg or near Dutch Wonderland and such.

    Love ya, hon!
